The Second Congregational Church is contained in a beautiful building in the heart of historic Cohasset Common.
Our building has several varied spaces we are happy to share with the broader community for a modest rental fee. We hope you will consider SCC for your next meeting or special event!
Bates Hall
Bates Hall is a lovely space – full of light, yet cozy enough to make all your guests feel welcome and included.
When renting this space, there are numerous tables and configurations that can be utilized. There are 8 foot rectangle tables that seat 8; 5 foot round tables (60” diameter) seating 6 and 40” square tables seating 4 persons. There is a drop down screen for projection purposes. Projection equipment is not provided by the church.
Bates Hall has been used for wedding receptions, memorial collations, dance classes, art classes, family gatherings, piano and guitar concerts, club meetings and more.
There is a $75 custodial fee if you would like us to set up the space for you.

The Green Chair Room
The Green Chair Room is perfect for small meetings. There are tables and chairs for up to 12 guests. This room is frequently used for committee and club meetings. A great space for creating and brainstorming.

The Library
If you are looking for a more formal meeting space, the Library is just the spot for you and your group. With a beautiful wooden conference room table and leather seating, it is the perfect space for community meetings. The church is able to provide a free standing video screen for projection use in the Library. This room has been used by many community groups and lecture series.

The Sanctuary
Our lovely Sanctuary is located on the second floor of our facility, accessed by either stair or elevator. This space boasts a balcony, a center aisle with new carpeting and comfortable new cushions on all of our pews! It is just the right size for weekly worship services, weddings, funerals and memorial services. Outside groups have rented this space for piano/organ concerts, guitar concerts and for large group meetings with a speaker. The Sanctuary has an audio system that may be used with prior permission and training.
- The rental fee for the Sanctuary is $900 for non members and $300 for church members in good standing based on a 4 hour period

The Chapel
The Chapel was added to our facility in 1991. It is a bright and cozy space with a high ceiling and exposed trusses – just the spot for an intimate wedding or baptism with less than 40 guests. With its beautifully arched windows it is an elegant space. This room is equipped with air conditioning for the comfort of summer events.

- Rental fee for the Chapel is $300 for non-members and $150 for members in good standing
- The Chapel has a 40 person capacity.
The Large Classroom
The large classroom is currently home to our weekly Sunday School program. The room is bright, colorful and welcoming to children. This space may be rented for youth programs with up to 18 persons. Art projects may be done in this space. This would make a great room for a Scout meeting!
- Rental fee for this space is $25 hour
*Rental of any church space, requires prior approval by the Trustee Committee. The church maintains authority to approve or deny use of space at its sole discretion. Rental payments are due once rental has been approved. An email with a link for payment will be sent to the renter.
All spaces must be cleaned by the group, unless you have retained the custodian’s services.
The Second Congregational Church is open to discussion for renting the space as a movie set. All fees and terms will be determined individually.
