Trustees Committee

Our By-Laws state:
The Trustees shall have the care and general management of the church property; shall appoint the Sexton, define his duties and determine his salary. The Trustees shall join with the Finance Committee in considering the advisability of unusual expenditures or under-takings and in advising and sanctioning investments, re-investment and sale of securities.

The Trustees at SCC are responsible for the church facility as well as the parsonage. This team works together to access and prioritize the many needs of our properties, and ensure timely repairs occur.  During 2017, the Trustees have been very busy completing the following projects:

  • Floors refinished
    Bates Hall, Library and Kitchen Hallway
  • Walk-in Cooler (received as donation)
    Moved to permanent location in new basement
  • Family Room/ Camera Project
    Installed a working camera system that allows young families to participate in worship while in the Nursery through closed circuit TV
  • Electrical LED
  • Completed transitioning the entire church over to LED lights & fixtures
  • Fire Alarm System
    Installed new upgraded fire alarm system to fully addressable
  • Completed renovation of all 3 bathrooms in church
  • Repair Chapel A/C
  • Repaired/replaced handicapped ramp exterior railing

Just as with a private home, there is always a project that needs our attention! If you would like to help us achieve any of these projects, donations may be made and earmarked to a specific project.  Simply make checks/donation payable to Second Congregational Church of Cohasset and write the project name in your memo space. Funds will be utilized as per your designation.

Below are some of the areas/projects that need our attention and your financial support:

  • Updating egresses at rear and side of church:  $5,500
  • Repaving the front drive: $6000
  • Replace rear asphalt roof of church: $15,000
  • Restore Sanctuary windows: $8000 each
  • Restore Church façade: $210,000
  • Repair old basement concrete floor $3500
  • Paint and repair steeple $22,000
  • Replace exterior door at handicapped ramp $5,500
  • LED Digital Projector $1000

The Trustees are also responsible for the oversight of facility rentals. This is accomplished in collaboration with the office administrator to ensure we can adequately accommodate both our members’ needs and the changing needs in our community.
